A Classic English Country Wedding
They were married on 1 June 2019 in the village of Firle, East Sussex, then an elegant reception within the spectacular at Firle Place. Firle Place is a beautiful, historic estate within the South Downs, which you might have recently seen on the watch's screen in all its glory as Hartfield, in Autumn de Wilde's adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma.
Grace's dress would be a beautiful, clean-lined design by having an off-the-shoulder bateau style neckline, a corseted bodice, along with a full, box pleated ball gown skirt having a pretty row of buttons running on the back.
The bridesmaid dresses looked wonderful in long, ivory halterneck dresses, that they wore with shoes, and velvet hair bows designed for them by Grace – how lovely!
Grace wore a set of glitter, and accessorized with earrings bought at a nearby antique shop, along with a bracelet provided to her by her mum on the marriage morning, which had originally been provided to her by her very own mother.
"I wore the 'Grand Veil' from Caroline Castigilano. I chose an ordinary-edged version to match the simplicity of the gown, along with a blush tier to put on over my face walking into church."
"Firle is usually used for period film shoots since it's this type of quaint and quintessentially English village, and also the church, St. Peter's, is extremely meaningful to us, having visited so frequently since we went to live in Lewes. There are merely a limited number of weddings for local couples every year there too, therefore it felt like an opportunity I was lucky to possess."
Grace's little brother Charles drove her towards the church, and when there, she was accompanied on the aisle by her dad, to Canon in D by Pachelbel, played around the church organ.
"We met at university, having lived within the same halls but stayed friends until we officially became a couple within our final year. Matt proposed in my experience in front of the Christmas tree within our living room on my small birthday, nine years (six moves, two jobs, and something dog) later. We were interested in a summer wedding, however with too little time for you to plan for the next June, we waited before the year after to express 'I do'."
Dinner and speeches were then cocktails and cake cutting, along with a joyful first dance together to Summer by Billie the Vision and also the Dancers, played live by their evening band, Staging, AV, and lighting came thanks.
"It was our favorite song in uni together amidst the uncertainty of the items that would happen as we left. A sort of ode to being within the moment. We shouldn't have worried!"
"My favorite area of the day was playing Baby to Matt's Swayze, and being hoisted within the air by our friends around the dancefloor because after the day everyone just loves a great party."
